JCB’s ‘Young Talent’ Programme
In addition to JCB’s range of 2012 sponsorship and training programmes, the company has revealed that it’s pumping £3.5 million into recruiting more than 100 new young people into the business this year. Set to launch in September, the ‘Young Talent’ programme is increasing the number of apprenticeships offered & launching a brand new ‘Higher Apprenticeship Scheme’ with the opportunity to study to degree level.
A company press release posted in March this year revealed that JCB will also be offering internships to 27 youngsters during 2012. Skills to be developed through the program include welding and fabrication, tool making, mechanical engineering & electrical maintenance while focusing on developing expertise in powertrains, manufacturing, engineering, business and finance.

JCB’s New Diesel Engine Program
Famous for their landspeed record of 350.092mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats – USA in 2006, JCB has announced plans for the new deisel engine development project in the UK & is set to create around 350 new jobs across it’s Wales & Midlands plants between 2016 – 2021.
The first 50 jobs will be required for the development of the new diesel engine project during the design & research phase with advanced engineering jobs currently available & recruitment underway at JCB Power Systems in Foston, Derbyshire.
Once the development of the engine is underway, roles will include design engineers, engine software & electronics engineers, manufacturing & application engineers, quality technicians, buyers & supplier development engineers. The production phase of the program will require an additional 300+ employees across the companies Wrexham, StaffordShire & Derbyshire factories.
