JCB’s ‘Young Talent’ Programme

In addition to JCB’s range of 2012 sponsorship and training programmes, the company has revealed that it’s pumping £3.5 million into recruiting more than 100 new young people into the business this year. Set to launch in September, the ‘Young Talent’ programme is increasing the number of apprenticeships offered & launching a brand new ‘Higher Apprenticeship Scheme’ with the opportunity to study to degree level.

A company press release posted in March this year revealed that JCB will also be offering internships to 27 youngsters during 2012. Skills to be developed through the program include welding and fabrication, tool making, mechanical engineering & electrical maintenance while focusing on developing expertise in powertrains, manufacturing, engineering, business and finance.

JCB’s New Diesel Engine Program

Famous for their landspeed record of 350.092mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats – USA in 2006, JCB has announced plans for the new deisel engine development project in the UK & is set to create around 350 new jobs across it’s Wales & Midlands plants between 2016 – 2021.

The first 50 jobs will be required for the development of the new diesel engine project during the design & research phase with advanced engineering jobs currently available & recruitment underway at JCB Power Systems in Foston, Derbyshire.

Once the development of the engine is underway, roles will include design engineers, engine software & electronics engineers, manufacturing & application engineers, quality technicians, buyers & supplier development engineers. The production phase of the program will require an additional 300+ employees across the companies Wrexham, StaffordShire & Derbyshire factories.

Set to start on 27 July 2012, The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will be held right across the UK in various locations including London, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester & More.

There are a range of job opportunities available for all sorts of people with an estimated 100,000 vacancies throughout the games. From ticketing to IT, there are many paid & volunteer roles needed to be filled & can be applied for. There are four main sections run by different organisations whom you can apply to, for these positions.

- The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG)

- London 2012 Ceremonies Ltd

- London 2012 Contractors

- The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA)

- LOCOG & Volunteer work

The LOCOG is responsible for the selection & training of volunteers & will have an estimated 6,000 person workforce including temporary & full time employees which will cover things like venue preparation, sales & ticketing, sports equipment hireage & will work alongside & in conjunction with the other section organisations on various projects.

Up to 70,000 volunteers will be working at the 2012 London Games & will be known as ‘The Game Makers’. There were over 240,000 Game Makers applications received last year which will be converted to 100,000 accepted volunteers between January 2011 & March 2012.

Although the London 2012 Games Maker applications have ceased, there are still ways to volunteer for the games. London’s Mayor ‘Boris Johnson’ is running ‘London Ambassadors’ Games Time programme, launched on July 27th 2010.

The London Ambassadors program will play an important part in the London Game’s welcoming initiative. From the moment people arrive by train or flight to the moment they leave, they will need to feel that their stay in the capital has been a memorable one & to ensure this happens the Mayor is looking for 8,000 volunteers who have charm and a real passion for London to become its Ambassadors.

- London 2012 Ceremonies

Pensions
